چکیده

In E6 models there are new particles whose baryon number is not uniquely assigned. We point out that the baryon and lepton number assignment to these particles can change the baryogenesis scenario significantly. We consider left-right symmetric extension of the standard model in which (B − L) quantum number is gauged. The identification of (B − L) with a generator of E6 is used to define the baryon and lepton numbers for the exotic particles in a way that the electroweak baryon and lepton number anomaly corresponding to the SU(2)L group vanishes, i.e., there is no non-perturbative baryon or lepton number violation during the electroweak phase transition. We study some consequences of the new assignment. 1 On sabbatical leave from Theory Group, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad 380009, India. Multiplicative Conservation of Baryon Number and Baryogenesis

In the canonical seesaw mechanism of neutrino mass, lepton number is only multiplicatively conserved, which enables the important phenomenon of leptogenesis to occur, as an attractive explanation of the present baryon asymmetry of the Universe. A parallel possibility, hitherto unrecognized, also holds for baryon number and baryogenesis. This new idea is shown to be naturally realized in the con...

The eejj excess signal at the LHC and constraints on leptogenesis

We review the non-supersymmetric (Extended) Left-Right Symmetric Models (LRSM) and low energy E6-based models to investigate if they can explain both the recently detected excess eejj signal at CMS and leptogenesis. The eejj excess can be explained from the decay of the right-handed gauge bosons (WR) with mass ∼TeV in certain variants of the LRSM (with gL 6= gR). However such scenarios can not ...

Allowable Low-Energy E6 Subgroups from Leptogenesis

There are only two viable low-energy E6 subgroups: SU(3)C ×SU(2)L ×U(1)Y × U(1)N or SU(3)C × SU(2)L × SU(2)′R × U(1)YL+Y ′ R , which would not erase any preexisting lepton asymmetry of the Universe that may have been created by the decay of heavy singlet (right-handed) neutrinos or any other mechanism. They are also the two most favored E6 subgroups from a recent analysis of present neutral-cur...

Electroweak Baryon Number Violation and Constraints on Left-handed Majorana Neutrino Masses

During a large period of time, the anomalous baryon number violating interactions are in equilibrium, when the (B+L) asymmetry is washed out. If there is any lepton number violation during this period, that will also erase the (B −L) asymmetry. As a result, survival of the baryon asymmetry of the universe pose strong constraints on lepton number violating interactions. We review here the constr...

Symmetry Breaking in Supersymmetric E6 Models

We study the electroweak and U(1) ′ symmetry breaking patterns in models with the particle content of supersymmetric E6, including standard model singlets S and exotic quarks D, D̄. Motivated by free fermionic string models, we do not require E6-type relations between Yukawa couplings. In particular, we assume that baryon and lepton numbers are conserved, so that the exotic quarks can be light. ...
